Noah Kahan has shared a cover of Olivia Rodrigo's 2023 fan-favourite, ‘lacy’, with the Vermont native also performing his hit single, ‘Stick Season’, as part of his BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge session.
The two-song special was recorded in London, following the conclusion of Noah's 2023 European and UK Stick Season tour at the O2 Forum Kentish Town the previous evening.
Ahead of his keenly awaited Live Lounge performance, fans were speculating that Noah Kahan might indeed perform an Olivia Rodrigo cover, after Olivia delivered her version of Noah's ‘Stick Season’ during her Live Lounge session in October.
It's safe to say Noah Kahan didn't disappoint. He keeps the composition relatively stripped back for ‘lacy’, in a similar fashion to Olivia Rodrigo's original, but infuses his trademark folk-leaning textures and his spellbinding vocals into the mix.
Noah Kahan's BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge rendition of ‘lacy’ is enhanced by the addition of the enchanting harmonies provided by Tiny Habits. The Boston-based band have been supporting Noah throughout his recent run of shows across Europe and the UK.
With Noah Kahn having recently shared a stellar acoustic performance with Tiny Habits of his Stick Season fan-favourite, ‘Growing Sideways’, we're wondering whether he's readying a revamped version of the track featuring the fast-emerging band.
It seems Noah Kahan will soon be treating listeners to a reimagined rendition of another Stick Season stand-out, ‘Everywhere, Everything’, alongside US singer-songwriter, Gracie Abrams, with Noah teasing the collaboration today (Thursday, November 23).
It'll mark the latest in a string of re-recorded duets from the hit songsmith, with Noah having released ‘Dial Drunk’ with Post Malone, ‘Call Your Mom’ with Lizzy McAlpine, ‘She Calls Me Back’ with Kacey Musgraves and ‘Northern Attitude’ with Hozier this year.
With Noah Kahan and Olivia Rodrigo having now covered each other's songs for BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, Olivia would surely be the prime candidate for a blockbuster duet version of ‘Stick Season’. We're keeping our fingers crossed this happens sooner rather than later.
