Acclaimed Singer-songwriter Nathaniel Rateliff has announced that his new song ‘Redemption’ – dropped yesterday - will feature in the forthcoming Apple Original film, Palmer.

Premiering worldwide exclusively on Apple TV + on 29th January 2021, Palmer will star Justin Timberlake, Alisha Wainwright and Juno Temple.

Directed by Fisher Stevens, the film tells the story of former high-school football star Eddie Palmer (Timberlake), who went from hometown hero to convicted felon, earning himself twelve years in a state penitentiary.

“When I was first asked to write a song for Palmer, and I was told what the film was about, the melody and the opening line came to me immediately”, explained Rateliff. “But it wasn’t until I had a conversation with Justin [Timberlake] that I really put the song together. He said the film was about redemption - I saw that in the characters and did my best to add to the scene in the film”.

The release follows a huge year for Denver-based Rateliff, whose latest solo album And It’s Still Alright, released in February on Stax Records, debuted to critical praise.
