On the heels of the triumphant release of his debut album and his first-ever Stagecoach performance, Nate Smith brought it all home to Nashville with a special album release show on Wednesday, May 3.
Gathered with his team and a few hundred of his biggest supporters, Smith took over Music City's Skydeck to play a handful of tracks from the new 26-song project, as well as some growing fan-favourites.
Though it was only a 30-minute set, Smith's magnetic artistry was on full display, commanding every attendee's full attention over the course of his six-pack collection of established hits or ones in the making.
Smith started with the brand new 'Name Storms After' and the highly-anticipated 'World On Fire’. The latter is expected to shoot to the business-end of the country charts upon entry, as evidenced by the crowd who screamed every word back to the California native, prompting Smith to take a moment to look back on his journey thus far.
“I just want to say thank you to everyone for coming. This means the world to me. I can't tell you how fun it is to put out an album for the first time”, Smith shared, “I've dreamed of it since I was a kid when I used to play with Microsoft Paint and try to design an album cover with made-up songs, so this is really a full-circle moment for me”.
At that, Smith's emotions took hold as the future country star broke down into tears, “This town has embraced me as a new artist. Looking around the room at different publishers and labels, you guys are here and it means so much to me. Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity, Nashville”.
Following into ‘Sleeve’, the song that landed him a publishing deal and paved the path towards his second chance at being an artist, Smith put his heart all out on the table with a pair of love-soaked weepers - ‘Wreckage’ and ‘Under My Skin’.
Smith bookended the album release show with his debut, Platinum-certified single, ‘Whiskey On You’, which spent two weeks atop the country charts earlier this year.
“Thank you everybody so much for everything. You've really touched my life in an amazing way”, he noted to the Nashville crowd, “Somehow, someway, everyone here had a part in it, and you got this song to No. 1 on country radio. I'm so grateful for that. Thank you to everybody in this room. I love you with my whole heart, I really do. Don't be a stranger”.
After closing out with one final goodbye, Smith officially capped off his debut release week. One thing is certain: If you're looking for a rising country artist to put your money on, Nate Smith is it.
In a short amount of time, he has already proven his superstar pedigree, as well as his capacity for growth and greatness in the country format. Though still in his nascency from an artist standpoint, the sky is truly the limit for this entertainer - and his release show at Nashville's Skydeck couldn't have been a better example of that.
