Myles Smith gave his second momentous show at Los Angeles’ Wiltern Theatre an added sheen of lustre, by bringing out his good friend Shaboozey to debut their brand new track.

Shaboozey had been teasing the galvanising, wistful ode, ‘Blink Twice’, across socials for a number of weeks, before revealing on Monday (April 7th) that it was actually a duet. ‘Blink Twice’ is set to be made available at long last on Friday, April 11th.

Myles Smith serves as the perfect collaborator for ‘Blink Twice’, with the track exploring the more anthemic, folk-leaning textures Smith has become synonymous with.

Across his discography so far, Shaboozey has veered towards a traditional country and Hip Hop fusion, with the ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ hitmaker seemingly branching out into folk.

‘Blink Twice’ finds Shaboozey and Myles Smith trading verses as they lament their sense of isolation and emotional turmoil, before resolving to do their best to enjoy the here-and-now, “Hanging onto hope / I'm losing grip of time and space / My mind is running circles over something I can't change / I've loved, I've tried / No-one told me when in Rome / Am I feeling all the feelings? / Or am I just going numb?”

Myles Smith and Shaboozey's live rendition of ‘Blink Twice’ in California saw the duo injecting an extra jolt of energy into the track, transforming it into a full-blown battle-cry.

‘Blink Twice’ marks Myles Smith's second foray into the country world, following his stellar link-up with Lainey Wilson for a revamped version of his 2024 hit, ‘Nice to Meet You’.

‘Blink Twice’ acts as Shaboozey's first release since his uptempo earworm, ‘Good News’, which arrived in November and kicked off a new chapter for the ‘Last Of My Kind’ trailblazer.

It remains to be seen whether ‘Good News’ and ‘Blink Twice’ will form part of Shaboozey's next studio album, or whether the Virginia native is planning to expand his widely lauded 2024 record, Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going, into a deluxe project.

Shaboozey hinted a deluxe might be on the way during his recent interview with Holler. Regardless of what form it takes, new music from the ‘Anabelle’ crooner is always cause for celebration, and we're counting down the days until ‘Blink Twice’s release.
