When Post Malone calls, you pick up. That’s exactly what happened for Alabama duo Muscadine Bloodline late last year, when they were invited to join Post on his F-1 Trillion Tour. Holler catch up with Gary and Charlie to talk about the experience, their new album, Longleaf Lo-Fi, and what life has looked like since stepping onto stadium stages.

“It’s one of the biggest opportunities we’d ever been presented,” Charlie says of the tour, “and it was a really hard decision to make.”

At the time, Muscadine Bloodline already had a full run of headline dates booked. Saying yes to Post Malone meant cancelling shows -and disappointing fans who’d been there long before the phone rang. “We were gonna be letting some fans down,” Charlie explains. “It was one of those ‘I hope you guys can understand’ moments, because this is something that’s just never gonna happen again.”

The jump from 500-cap rooms to stadiums was immediate and jarring - but the band embraced it. Opening for Post meant playing to crowds that weren’t always country fans, but that only sharpened their focus and fuelled their fire. Night after night, they were introducing Muscadine Bloodline to tens of thousands of new listeners.

“We’d go out there, give them hell for 45 minutes and just play the funnest show we possibly could,” Charlie underlines. “And it turned out great.” He's not wrong, with TikTok flooded with videos of fans admitting they were only there for Post, and weren't previously aware of Muscadine's music, but had been converted into fans.

Offstage, the tour carried the same energy. Post Malone’s camp, the duo say, felt more like friends than megastars. “It didn’t feel like we were hanging with superstars,” they recall. “That whole crew is like a big party.” Still, the pace was relentless. “You stay up ‘til 4 a.m. three or four times and you start thinking, ‘Man, I’m not built for this.’”

Learning how to command a crowd of 20,000-plus has already paid dividends as Muscadine Bloodline move into another big year. Their latest album, Longleaf Lo-Fi, has since been taken out on a far more intimate but equally compelling run of shows - proof that no matter the scale, the connection remains the point.

“There’s nothing like your own fans,” Charlie concludes, looking ahead to new dates, including their biggest-ever headline show in Georgia. Stadium lights may have changed the view, but Muscadine Bloodline are still grounded in the rooms - and people - that brought them there.
