Morgan Wallen's charges for his alleged chair-throwing incident back in April 2024 have been reduced.

Initially, the Sneedville singer-songwriter had been charged with three felony counts of reckless endangerment, in addition to one count of disorderly conduct.

Various reports have confirmed that Morgan Wallen's felony charges have now been reduced, with the ‘Last Night’ chart-topper facing two counts of reckless endangerment without a weapon. These are being treated as misdemeanours, not felonies.

Morgan Wallen's lawyer shared a statement on Tuesday revealing the case had been moved from the general sessions court to the Circuit Criminal Court. Originally, it was thought the next step would be for Wallen to appear in front of a Grand Jury in early 2025, but it has since been announced that he is due to enter a plea deal instead.

The plea hearing is due to take place today (Thursday, December 12th) at 12:45pm, with the hearing being set by Judge Cynthia Chappell. It's not yet clear whether Morgan Wallen himself will be present at that hearing alongside his team of attorneys.

This means there may be a concrete outcome to the ‘Thought You Should Know’ singer-songwriter's case by the end of that hearing today, with Wallen expected to enter a plea deal this afternoon. This could see the severity of his potential punishment reduced. There have been reports that Wallen could serve a 30 to 60-day spell in jail, but it must be underlined that this is only conjecture at present.

Morgan Wallen is accused of throwing a chair off the top floor of Eric Church's Chief's bar on Nashville's Broadway strip, with the alleged incident occurring at 10:53pm on April 7th.

Wallen took to X (formerly Twitter) a couple of weeks later, to issue a rare statement, “I didn't feel right publicly checking in until I made amends with some folks. I’ve touched base with Nashville law enforcement, my family, and the good people at Chief’s. I'm not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility”.

Following the incident, the Chief's team decided to put up a tongue-in-cheek plaque on the sixth floor, reading, “Don't Even Think About It, You Are Not Morgan Wallen”.

Last month, that plaque was removed without explanation, with the placard replaced by scribbled text, supposedly written by Morgan Wallen himself, with the message, “Right here. Stop asking bartender! MW” The implication seems to be that the Chief's staff had grown frustrated by the number of tourists coming into the bar solely for the purpose of going up to the rooftop to see the infamous Wallen sign.

It's been an eventful, Nashville-focussed week for the country megastar, with Morgan Wallen's team also resubmitting his proposal to have a sign hung outside his popular This Bar & Tenessee Kitchen. In May, shortly after the chair-throwing controversy, the Nashville Council voted to deny Wallen and his team permission to put up the sign.

Morgan Wallen is currently on a brief hiatus from touring, following the conclusion of his record-breaking One Night At A Time run in Charlotte, North Carolina in October.
