Morgan Wallen has now moved past his fellow country megastar, Luke Combs, to become the artist with the most Billboard Country Airplay No. 1s this decade, following the chart-topping success of his trap-infused collaboration with ERNEST, ‘Cowgirls’.

The much-loved track, taken from Morgan Wallen's record-breaking 2023 album, One Thing At A Time, has earned the ‘Thought You Should Know’ hitmaker his 12th No. 1.

Luke Combs possesses 11, with the two chart titans continuing their friendly rivalry at the pinnacle of the country music world. As ‘Cowgirls’ is now Morgan Wallen's seventh No. 1 spawned by One Thing At A Time, the album has now matched the record set by Luke's 2020 project, What You See Ain't Always What You Get.

Morgan Wallen has already followed up ‘Cowgirls’ by confirming his new single at Country Radio is the simmering, introspective ‘Lies, Lies, Lies’, which dropped on July 4th after his momentous headlining set at London's BST Hyde Park 2024 festival.

Given how close the ‘More Than My Hometown’ singer-songwriter is to overtaking What You See Ain't Always You Get, we suspect he might still send the heartbroken ‘98 Braves’ to Country Radio in order to secure eight No. 1s from One Thing At A Time, before officially closing the chapter on that hugely popular project. Morgan has expressed his intention in the past of sending the witty, baseball-themed ballad to the airwaves, and this is undoubtedly one fans would get firmly behind.

In addition, Morgan Wallen has become the third artist in history to replace himself at No. 1 at Country Radio, with Willie Nelson and - unsurprisingly - Luke Combs the only other artists to do so. ‘Cowgirls’ has taken the top spot from ‘I Had Some Help’, Morgan's infectious Post Malone duet and the lead single from Posty's eagerly awaited debut country album, F-1Trillion, which drops on August 16th.

This week, to add yet another milestone to the sprawling list, ‘Cowgirls’ has obliterated the record for the most single spins on US Country Radio, amassing a total of 9,965 spins, overtaking Nate Smith's 9,753 spins for his 2023 anthem, ’World On Fire’.

With ‘Cowgirls’ reaching the pinnacle at Country Radio, ERNEST has picked up his first ever No. 1 as an artist, with the Nashville native's previous array of chart-toppers all coming solely as a songwriter. ERNEST's next single is yet to be announced.
