After a brief hiatus due to enforced vocal rest, Morgan Wallen returned to the stage in Jacksonville, Florida on Thursday, May 4 for a blistering set filled with electric, chart-topping anthems.

The support came in the form of Wallen's good buddies, Bailey Zimmerman and Ernest, who thoroughly warmed the crowd up ahead of the main event. Zimmerman delivered heartfelt renditions of his two No. 1 singles, ‘Rock and A Hard Place’ and ‘Fall in Love’, both of which were recently certified Double-Platinum, and will feature on his new album, Religiously.

Ernest then upped the ante with his set, which closed with his traditional performance of ‘Flower Shops’. Morgan Wallen has made a crowd-pleasing habit of bringing Ernest up on stage during his headlining set for a rousing duet of the heartbroken ballad. However, in an exciting twist in Jacksonville, Wallen and Ernest instead treated attendees to a live debut of their 2023 collaboration, ‘Cowgirls’.

Before Morgan Wallen emerged, given his pre-show social media video message outlining that he wasn't yet at 100%, attendees at Jacksonville's VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena were undoubtedly slightly anxious to see whether the Sneedville megastar was still suffering lingering symptoms after losing his voice last week.

In Oxford, Mississippi, Wallen had to cancel his headlining performance at the last minute, before postponing his following three tour dates due to his doctor placing him on vocal rest.

With his Thursday night appearance in Jacksonville being his first since the cancelled show in Oxford, there was unquestionably a sense of added expectation hanging in the balmy Floridian air.

Morgan Wallen was quick to silence any doubts, though, as he rolled through his expansive catalogue of fan-favourites and record-setters, with the likes of ‘Up Down’, ‘Everything I Love’ and the title-track of his new album, One Thing At A Time, instigating crowd-wide sing-a-longs.

Wallen's performance ensures he'll be carrying plenty of momentum into the next stop on his hugely popular 2023 One Night At A Time tour, which is in nearby West Palm Beach on Friday, May 5.
