It's safe to say Morgan Wallen is no stranger to the rap world, with the Sneedville megastar cultivating a spirit of cross-genre collaboration throughout his career.

Wallen regularly tips his cap to trap and Hip Hop culture, with the ‘Last Night’ chart-topper's unexpected 2021 collaboration with Lil Durk, ‘Broadway Girls’, opening up the floodgates for more genre-blurring link-ups with Durk and Moneybagg Yo.

More recently, Morgan Wallen announced he'd be dropping a truly titanic remix of his trap-leaning I'm the Problem earworm, ‘Miami’, alongside rap phenoms Lil Wayne and Rick Ross. The eagerly anticipated revamped version arrives this Friday, July 25th.

This latest foray into the trap world - and his recent comments on Theo Von's This Past Weekend podcast about wanting to experiment with a project in another genre - has us wondering who else Wallen might have his sights set on for a collaboration.

A few years ago, Complex reported that Morgan Wallen had shed some light on his dream rap link-ups during a Club House session with comedian, Druski. During their chat, Wallen revealed, “I do love Moneybagg [Yo]. He’s definitely at the top of the list…But, like overall, ever…I’m trying to think of not just in the past little bit…Kendrick Lamar would be pretty cool. Moneybagg is probably my favorite. And I listened to a lot of Young Dolph - RIP. I listened to Drake’s new album. I listen to Kanye...I’ve been listening to a little bit of Gunna. I like him pretty good”.

Bear in mind this took place before Wallen dropped his collaboration with Moneybagg, ‘WHISKEY WHISKEY’ - as well as coming before Kanye's troubling string of controversies.

Morgan Wallen's comment about Kendrick Lamar stirred up a lot of buzz across the internet, with TMZ even asking Lil Durk whether he'd approve of this collaboration, to which he responded affirmatively. Now, Wallen's star-power is stratospheric, with a joint track with Kendrick a much more feasible prospect in that respect.

However, as much as we'd love to see these two juggernauts of their respective genres linking up on a track, we feel like Wallen's longstanding allegiance to Drake will most likely mean a collaboration with Kendrick Lamar is off the table.

Of course, following Drake and Kendrick's vicious beef last year, there are clear battle-lines drawn firmly in the sand. With Drake walking out with Wallen ahead of his Houston, Texas show last month and the duo also appearing together in the former's ‘You Broke My Heart’ music video in 2023, a collaboration with Drizzy is far more realistic. We recently outlined our theory that Drake might be hopping on the long-teased extended version of Wallen's I'm the Problem ‘Interlude’ very soon.

Of course, Rick Ross waded into that feud and threw shots Drake's way, making his appearance on the ‘Miami’ remix somewhat surprising. The fact that Drake's Young Money mentor, Lil Wayne, is also on the track, though, suggests it has Drizzy's blessing. It implies that Morgan Wallen isn't averse to collaborating with artists that were involved in the Kendrick beef, but we still don't think he would join forces with K-Dot himself, given Wallen's friendship with Drake.

What's more, while Drake and Kendrick Lamar are both masters of their craft, we think the former's hazy, R&B-infused sound lends itself more to Morgan Wallen's brooding textures.

While we don't think we'll see the ‘Love Somebody’ crooner teaming up with Kendrick any time soon, we're holding out hope that he'll be recruiting Drake for a verse before long.
