Morgan Wallen has made a surprise appearance in Drake's blockbuster new music video for ‘You Broke My Heart’, which has left fans wondering whether - and hoping - the two chart-topping artists could possibly have a duet up their sleeves.

In the (quite literally) explosive new visuals, Morgan Wallen and Drake share a drink following a lavish meal in a restaurant, with the two artists discussing their thoughts on their exes.

After Morgan dismisses his previous relationship, remarking, “I didn't like her...I think she might have been the wrong girl anyway”, Drake echoes Morgan's sentiments, before the two raise a toast and begin joking about beginning the search for new flames.

They wander jovially out of the restaurant and - after sharing an endearing high-five - clamber into Drake's car before driving off. However, the video then takes an ominous turn, as Grace Matthews and Taylor Morris step into view, wielding a James Bond-esque device.

In classic Hollywood fashion, once they press the button, Drake and Morgan Wallen's car explodes into a dramatic burst of flames, with Grace and Taylor - who are presumably assuming the roles of the exes - then proceeding to celebrate and lip-sync to the song.

‘You Broke My Heart’ appeared on Drake's 2023 For All The Dogs: Scary Hours Edition, which arrived shortly after the original For All The Dogs project in October. It's a dark, incisive track that captures Drake's trademark blend of laidback melodies and witty lyricism.

This surprise but welcome link-up between Morgan Wallen and Drake comes hot on the heels of Drake singing along during a live stream earlier in the week to Morgan's monster hit, ‘Last Night’, which was Spotify's most streamed song of the year.

Despite being firmly rooted in country, the Tennessee native frequently flirts with rap and hip hop sonics, with Morgan Wallen incorporating a fusion of these genres on tracks such as the Young Thug-sampling ‘180 (Lifestyle)’, ‘You Proof’ and his two much-loved Lil Durk collaborations, ‘Broadway Girls’ and ‘Stand By Me’.

In a recent Billboard interview, the head of Morgan Wallen's label, Seth England, compared Morgan's genre-blending style to the way Drake has explored an eclectic mix of textures and sounds throughout his career. Interestingly, he also revealed that Morgan sent a song to a non-country artist for a potential duet, “The answer was bittersweet...It was, ‘Holy shit, this sounds like a global No. 1 record, but I just can’t do it right now”. Could Seth have been talking about Drake?

If so, we sure hope Drake finds time to hit the studio with Morgan before too long. Indeed, following the ‘You Broke My Heart’ video, many fans are speculating that the two friends might have already recorded a collaboration. Drake has regularly tipped his cap to country music in the past, having referenced George Strait on ‘HYFR’, for instance, but this would mark his first full step into the genre.

With Post Malone testing the waters with his upcoming debut country album, could Drake be tempted to follow in his footsteps? For now, we'll try not to be too greedy, and for the next few weeks at least, we'll have to make do with playing the clip of Morgan Wallen and Drake heartwarmingly low-fiving each other on repeat.
