Morgan Wallen has picked up his 11th No. 1 single at Country Radio with ‘Everything I Love’. The uptempo, retro-leaning track is the latest in a long line of chart-toppers to emerge from Morgan's sprawling 2023 opus, One Thing At A Time.
‘Everything I Love’ has surged to the peak of the Mediabase Country rankings less than two months after Morgan Wallen earned his 10th No. 1 with ‘Thinkin’ Bout Me’ in October.
After Nate Smith briefly leapt to the top spot on Mediabase with ‘World On Fire‘, Morgan Wallen's ‘Everything I Love’ enjoyed a colossal 1232 daily increase in spins to overtake Nate. At the time of writing, Morgan's tally sits at 8097, with Nate close behind on 8060.
When ‘Everything I Love’ was first released as part of Morgan Wallen's second One Thing At A Time sampler EP in January, although being celebrated for its innovative interpolation of The Allman Brothers Band's ‘Midnight Rider’, ‘Everything I Love’ was forced to stand in the shadow of Morgan's monster hit, ‘Last Night’, which went on to become the most streamed song of the year across all genres on Spotify.
Nonetheless, ‘Everything I Love’ immediately struck a chord with fans, with many championing Morgan Wallen's willingness to colour outside the lines and embrace a traditional ‘70s and ‘80s sound. The distinctive, unique quality of ’Everything I Love’ has been accentuated by the fact that much of One Thing At A Time is pervaded by the genre-blending, hip-hop-infused country sound that Morgan has become synonymous with, epitomised by the likes of ‘Last Night’, ‘You Proof’, ‘Thinkin’ Bout Me’, ‘180 (Lifestyle)’, ‘Sunrise‘ and ‘Ain't That Some’.
Thankfully, ‘Everything I Love’ remains an integral part of Morgan Wallen's electrifying setlist, with the ‘Thought You Should Know’ singer-songwriter often performing the lively, crowd-pleasing anthem towards the start of his show, following ‘Up Down’, ‘I Wrote The Book’ and the equally energising One Thing At A Time title-track.
Morgan Wallen has already unveiled the Eric Church-assisted ‘Man Made A Bar’ as his next single at Country Radio, and given Morgan's dominance over the genre in recent years, ‘Man Made A Bar’ is widely expected to become his 12th No. 1 in early 2024.
Co-written by Rocky Block, Jordan Dozzi, Brett Tyle and Morgan Wallen's label-mate, Larry Fleet - who recently spoke to Holler about penning the heartbroken ballad - ‘Man Made A Bar’ explores similar themes to ‘Everything I Love’.
However, instead of the joyously twangy, light-hearted and classic country composition of ’Everything I Love’, the message of ‘Man Made A Bar’ is conveyed alongside sparse, understated instrumentation and weighty, atmospheric production.
‘Man Made A Bar’ is currently hurtling towards the Mediabase Country Top 30, but before it enters the business-end of the chart, George Birge's ‘Mind On You’, Dan + Shay's ‘Save Me The Trouble’ and Chris Stapleton's ‘White Horse’ will spend the next couple of weeks jostling to replace ‘Everything I Love’ at the pinnacle.
Despite Morgan having confirmed he's working on his eagerly anticipated new album, he shared in September that, before he turns the page on his hugely successful One Thing At A Time era, he still has plans to send the baseball-inspired ‘98 Braves’ and his Ernest duet, ‘Cowgirls’, to Country Radio in the months to come.
