This year has been a big one for many country artists, and still, 2024 is far from over for some. The recently unveiled nominations for the upcoming Billboard Music Awards prove just that.
The genre's biggest hitmakers, Zach Bryan and Morgan Wallen, are the award ceremony's leading nominees, Bryan with 18 nominations and Wallen with 15.
Bryan and Wallen will be going head-to-head in several of the cross-genre categories, duking it out for Top Male Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Streaming Songs Artist, overall Top Artist and more. They, of course, are also being represented in many of the country-specific honors, such as overall Top Country Artist and Top Country Male Artist.
Shaboozey, HARDY, Luke Combs, Post Malone, Chris Stapleton, Megan Moroney, Lainey Wilson, The Red Clay Strays and several other country acts are in consideration for various Billboard Music honors.
Last year's Billboard Music Awards saw Wallen take home 11 of the night's accolades, the most wins of the 2023 ceremony.
He secured massive honors, like Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Streaming Songs Artist, Top Country Artist, Top Country Male Artist, Top Country Album, Top Country Touring Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album, along with several more wins. Much of the awards were in recognition of his record-breaking 2023 album, One Thing At A Time, and his equally acclaimed tune, 'Last Night'.
Bryan also won big last year, taking home Top New Artist, Top Rock Artist, Top Rock Song for his hit single, ‘Something in the Orange’, and Top Rock Album for his 2022 project, American Heartbreak.
There are likely many more Billboard wins on the horizon for both stars. We'll soon find out when the ceremony airs on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 8:00 p.m. Eastern on Fox.
