During her recent show at The Gorge Amphitheatre in Quincy, Washington, Molly Tuttle treated attendees to a joint performance of ‘Yosemite’ alongside Dave Matthews Band.
The two artists had previously linked up to record a studio version of the duet for Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway's 2023 album, City of Gold, with the collaboration already proving to be one of the most popular offerings from the 13-track project.
The Washington crowd welcomed the unexpected live rendition of ‘Yosemite’, with the chemistry between Tuttle and Matthews being endearingly showcased throughout the performance.
The bittersweet track was given a new sheen of vulnerability on The Gorge stage, with the stripped-back production ensuring Tuttle and Matthews’ stellar vocals could take centre-stage.
After the performance, Molly Tuttle took to her socials to underline her gratitude to Dave Matthews for helping to create the special moment, “Last night was surreal… I will be posting more from later in the show but first wanted to say thank you so much to Dave for joining us in our set to sing this one. When I wrote ‘Yosemite’ I thought of who my dream duet partner would be and sent it to him… I couldn’t believe when he actually agreed to sing it with me on my album! And then to get to play it together in the most beautiful live music setting was something I will never forget”.
‘Yosemite’ tells the heartbreaking story of two lovers who decide to take a trip to the national park, in the hope that it might reignite the sparks that once flew between the two. However, despite their best intentions, their last-ditch attempt to salvage the relationship fails, with Molly Tuttle concluding, “Sometimes the road is the best remedy / For two broken hearts that need settin' free”.
After seeing Molly Tuttle and Dave Matthews Band share the stage in Quincy, Washington, ticket-holders to Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway's upcoming shows will be hoping the two will hit the stage together again sooner rather than later.
