Those in attendance at the 59th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards on Thursday night (May 16) got a glimpse of Miranda Lambert in her new era.
The 'Kerosene' star took the Ford Center ceremony stage to deliver a striking showcase of her latest hit 'Wranglers', a song that marks a fresh start for the artist under her new label, Republic Records.
Lambert first debuted 'Wranglers' live during her headlining Stagecoach performance in late April, a career-spanning display that also saw the star bring icon – and the night's ACM host – Reba McEntire onstage. Together, they sang some of Lambert's beloved hits like 'Mama’s Broken Heart' and 'Gunpowder & Lead', as well as McEntire's classic 'Fancy.'
Ahead of its official release earlier this month, the artist described 'Wranglers' as “a tale of a woman taking her power back." That seems to be exactly what the star is doing.
“Having a new home has given me a hunger I didn’t realize I still had inside me," she explains of her recent move to republic. "[‘Wranglers’] feels like it could be on the same record as ‘Gunpowder & Lead’; it has that same fury. I can’t wait to get out there with this new label and this new music.”
Taking place in Frisco, Texas' Ford Center, the 2024 ACM Awards played host to even more performances from stars like Cody Johnson, Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson and several others throughout the hit-heavy night.
