While it might've been a tough weekend for University of Tennessee fans as they once again fell to the Georgia Bulldogs in their annual college football rivalry game, the night before had college fans seeing stars as Megan Moroney geared up for a special pre-game concert, sponsored by Spotify Champions
A proud UGA alumni, the home of the Georgia Bulldogs, and Georgia native, Moroney welcomed a packed out crowd to her alma mater's Georgia Theatre. Marking the first time she headlined the venue – though she'll be back in February on her Am I Okay? 2025 Tour – the stage holds a special significance for the award-winning star-in-the-making, who notched her very first live performance there just a few years ago.
Treating the audience to performances of her biggest and most beloved tunes from across her career thus far, such as 'Man On The Moon,' 'Indifferent,' 'I'm Not Pretty' and several others, Moroney was also joined by a pair of fellow Georgians in Lily Rose and Mackenzie Carpenter.
Besides being one of the next generation superstars of the country genre, Moroney is also famously connected to the border-state rivalry thanks to her breakout hit, 'Tennessee Orange.'
Just as the song reaches across the college football aisle in the name of love, Moroney's Athens show saw UT and UGA fans alike sharing in a beautiful evening in the name of music and all things Megan Moroney.
“Being in Athens the weekend of the Georgia-Tennessee game at the Georgia Theatre is something that I will never forget," Moroney said. "Thank you Spotify, and thank you to my fans for showing up for me! I love y’all and I loved tonight!”
The rivalry between Georgia and Tennessee has been around since 1992, with the Bulldogs enjoyed a 29-23-2 record over the Volunteers, thanks to their 31-17 win over UT.
From here, Moroney will be heading back to Nashville this week for the 58th Annual CMA Awards on Wednesday, November 20, for which she'll be battling it out in a trio of categories, including Music Video of the Year, New Artist of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year.
