Sweet niblets! After teasing a cover of ‘The Best of Both Worlds’ via Instagram earlier in March, Megan Moroney has released an official version of the iconic Hannah Montana track.
The ‘Tennessee Orange’ singer-songwriter's rendition of the classic song, which was recorded by Miley Cyrus in 2006 as part of the Hannah Montana Soundtrack, has been made available exclusively via Spotify. It arrives as part of the fanfare and celebrations ahead of the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special this week.
Whether or not you were an avid Disney Channel viewer or a Hannah Montana aficionado, you willl have come across ’The Best of Both Worlds’ at some point - such was its ubiquity in the early 2000's, transcending the boundaries of the hit TV show.
Moroney has been open about how much she continues to be inspired by Hannah Montana, with the ‘Am I Okay?’ hitmaker regularly opening her shows by playing the original version of ‘The Best of Both Worlds’ before she storms onto the stage.
Now, the Georgia native can use her own take on the song at her shows, with this new rendition capturing the joyful, freeing spirit of Cyrus’ original - which was penned by Matthew Gerrard and Robbie Nevil - as well as giving it a fresh, contemporary twist. We're hoping this surprise Spotify Singles cover is the first step towards a full-blown country-crossover collaboration between Moroney and Cyrus.
The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special is due to air via Disney+ and Hulu on Tuesday, March 24th 2026, and will find Miley Cyrus joining Alex Cooper for an in-depth interview reflecting on the wildly popular series two decades on, as well as revisiting the set, sharing fun behind-the-scenes moments and more.
