Emo-Cowgirl Season is fast approaching...
Megan Moroney has officially closed the chapter on his hugely popular Am I Okay? era, with the Georgia native taking to Instagram to bid farewell to her ‘blue’ color theme.
The ‘Tennessee Orange’ singer-songwriter has shared a nostalgic flurry of now-iconic moments from her Am I Okay? rollout, with the album's blue color palette featuring in each one. While it's bittersweet to be saying goodbye to this vibrant and wildly successful period of Moroney's catalogue, we're excited to see what's next.
Surely, with Moroney choosing now as the time to officially conclude her blue period, it must mean that an announcement regarding her next musical era is on the horizon.
The ‘Heaven By Noon‘ hitmaker has been sprinkling easter eggs about her third studio album across her social media channels in recent months, with Moroney playing into the speculation that has been swirling around the color theme for this next project.
At first, it seemed she was leaning towards a bright, joyful yellow, with Moroney donning a striking yellow dress at the ACM Awards in May, before appearing to pivot towards purple. We're placing our bet on the latter - and we also suspect the forthcoming album might be called Cloud 9, based on Moroney's subtle emoji hints of late.
It's completely possible that we're overthinking it, and Moroney has been leading us all on a wild goose chase for the past few months as the excitement builds for new music.
Either way, regardless of what Moroney's Am I Okay? follow-up will be called and what colour she's chosen for it, one thing is for sure - it's going to be packed with Emo Cowgirl anthems. The country chart-topper has confirmed it'll be a more uplifting, light-hearted body of work compared to both Lucky and Am I Okay?
Moroney's singles so far, ‘You Had To Be There’ with Kenny Chesney, ‘6 Months Later’ and ‘Beautiful Things’, are all optimistic and hopeful, seemingly capturing the positivity-laced spirit that will pervade her eagerly anticipated next record.
With no more tour-dates on the books for 2025 and the teasers continuing to flow, we're keeping our fingers crossed we're getting an announcement from Moroney very soon...
