During her pop-up show at Nashville's La La Land Kid Cafe yesterday (Tuesday, October 14th), Megan Moroney surprised attendees by revealing the release date for her eagerly awaited song, ‘Beautiful Things’. The track will arrive on Friday, October 24th.
Moroney then confirmed the news to her followers, taking to Instagram to announce, “nashville heard it first… but my next single beautiful things is out next friday! 💛 in the meantime, make sure you go to @lalalandkindcafe & order the Megan Moroney latte + grab a sleeve to write something kind & encouraging to a stranger :) can’t wait for y’all to have this song that is sooo special to me <3”.
Moroney has been teasing the intricate, bittersweet ode - which she penned as a letter of reassurance for her niece - since March, when the ‘Tennessee Orange’ singer-songwriter debuted ‘Beautiful Things’ during her Bluebird Cafe set with Ed Sheeran.
Since then, we've had various snippets and performances of ‘Beautiful Things’, with Moroney even dropping a live version as part of last week's Am I Okay? Tour (Live) album.
But now, at long last, we'll be getting the studio version. ‘Beautiful Things’ is set to be a key offering alongside ‘Six Months Later’ and ‘You Had To Be There’ with Kenny Chesney on Moroney's new album, which is expected to be unveiled very soon.
With Moroney announcing the ’Beautiful Things’ release date as part of her La La Land Kind Cafe pop-up show in Music City, the Georgia native naturally stuck to the store's yellow colour scheme with her outfit. Some fans, however, have interpreted this as a hint that yellow could be the colour theme for her forthcoming album.
We first suggested this could be the chosen colour back in May when the ‘I'm Not Pretty’ hitmaker donned a stylish yellow dress to the ACM Awards, but since then, it's felt as though Moroney has been hinting instead that purple will be the colour theme.
With Lucky being green and Am I Okay pivoting around blue, the palette of Moroney's third album has been a key talking-point for her loyal fanbase for months now. Moroney even poked fun at the speculation during her recent prank-call for ELLE Magazine, when she hilariously called her Creative Director, Cece Dawson, and asked her to change the new album colour - and title - at the last minute.
We still think it's going to be purple, and that this yellow business is a red herring - but with Moroney continuing to sprinkle easter eggs and cryptic clues across her socials, it's safe to say the anticipation is sky-high ahead of her third musical chapter.
