Global chart-topping DJ Marshmello is continuing his foray into the country music world, with the ‘Happier’ hitmaker joining forces with Jelly Roll for a new track, ‘Holy Water’.

The evocative, piano-driven anthem finds Jelly paying homage to all the people that are no longer with him, with Marshmello cushioning the ‘Need a Favor’ crooner's charismatic, emotive vocals with his distinctive, uplifting and EDM-infused composition.

The song is arriving this Friday, August 8th, and fans are hoping this is a hint that Marshmello is about to release a full-blown country-inspired project. The helmet-wearing DJ - whose real identity is reportedly Chris Comstock - has linked up on-stage with a plethora of country stars in recent years, most notably Kane Brown.

Marshmello recruited Brown for ‘One Thing Right’ and ‘Miles On It’, which serve as infectious, galvanising showcases of how seamlessly both artists can flit between genres.

During CMA Fest 2025, Marshmello surprised the Spotify House crowd with an array of cameos from Brown, Ashley Cooke, Hudson Westbrook and Dasha. This had us wondering if the DJ was readying an entire country project, and his newly teased collaboration with Jelly Roll, ‘Holy Water’, seemingly adds weight to this speculation.

Given how Country-EDM (often referred to as YeeDM) is enjoying an explosion in popularity, it feels like the perfect time for Marshmello to indulge his country-leaning impulses.

Ahead of unveiling the release date for ’Holy Water’, Marshmello shared a heartwarming video of him presenting Jelly Roll with a custom-made version of his helmet, featuring Jelly's face tattoos. Jelly is visibly moved by gesture, with the affable country star taking to the comments to endearingly joke, “My son finally thinks I’m cool”.

Elsewhere on social media, followers have been having an unofficial contest to see who can come up with the best name for this new duo. Our favourite is “Marshjello”, offered by House duo, HILLS, but we're also fond of Jelly's own creation - “Jelly Mello”.

It's the latest in a string of stellar Jelly duets, with the ‘Save Me’ chart-topper having joined forces with Alex Warren, Shaboozey, Brandon Lake and more in the past few months.

He's currently out on the road with another of his A-list collaborators, Post Malone, with the duo preparing to launch the European leg of their Big Ass Stadium Tour this month.
