During her Artist of the Day interview at CMA Fest 2024, Lainey Wilson charmed a packed audience who had all sidled up to the CMA Close-Up Stage bright and early for the final day of the weekend-long event.

Joined by her recent duet partner and dear friend, Keith Urban, the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry family discussed her entire journey from Baskin, Louisiana, to CMA Entertainer of the Year.

From her musical influences and her first job as a Hannah Montana impersonator, the 'Heart Like A Truck' hitmaker also treated the audience to a special performance of the very first song she ever wrote, titled 'Lucky Me.'

"I wrote my first song at nine years old," she shared, quickly offering to serenade the audience. "I was at a friend's house and we were like, 'Let's write a song!'... My mom came and picked me and I said, 'Mama, I wrote a song.' She said 'You did what?!,' and thought it would never happen again and then it just kept happening [week after week] and never really stopped."

Wilson continued: "It's called 'Lucky Me,' and it makes absolutely no sense, but I'm about to sing it to y'all."

Taking her position, she effortlessly recalled the 20+ year old lyrics that speak about how happy she is to be loved by a certain special someone. Though it clearly doesn't have any set structure or melody, there's no denying that even at nine, Wilson was going to be a force to be reckoned with.

A little diddy about being being smitten with puppy love, the old song finds Wilson singing lines like, "Lucky me, I feel free and I can't deny that he loves me,' and "The first time I saw him it was like a dream," showing the first signs of her lyrical prowess that would later culminate as massive No. 1 hits like 'Watermelon Moonshine,' 'Hang Tight Honey' and a long list of others.

"It wasn't that bad, right? It just kind of runs on and on," she added with a laugh as Urban compared it to a Reba McEntire tune.

"That's an Entertainer of the Year, right there," Urban added with a smile.

Elsewhere in the nearly hour-long conversation, Wilson explained how she found her way onto all of our television screens through Yellowstone, her rise to superstar status and some surprises that we can expect on her upcoming album, Whirlwind.

For the full lyrics to 'Lucky Me,' see below:

Lucky me, I feel free and I can't deny that he loves me
Which I know that he does so he's the one
Luck me, ohh
I said ohh
I'm the one for him and he's the one for me
Baby, I love to see his face
It's not a big disgrace
Oh, lucky me
Lucky me
The first time I saw him it was like a dream
I wake up in the middle of the night and think about him
Every time I turn around, I can't settle down
Cause I see his face
