During the premiere of Colleen Hoover's new adaptation of Reminders of Him, Lainey Wilson has reflected on making her eagerly anticipated feature film debut in the movie.

Wilson plays Amy, who hires the protagonist, Kenna, with the duo becoming close friends over the course of the rip-roaring narrative. Also appearing in Reminders of Him, which is out today (Friday, March 13th 2026), is Maika Monroe, Tyriq Withers, Rudy Pankow, Lauren Graham, Bradley Whitford and Nicholas Duvernay.

Although Wilson's first feature film, the country titan is no stranger to the screen, having played Abby during the final season of Taylor Sheridan's hit series, Yellowstone.

On the Red Carpet, Wilson reflects on landing the momentous role, “I looked at myself in the mirror, I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is my first feature film’. Like that is something to call home about”, before underlining how the core message of the film spoke to her, “Honestly a lot of things that my parents taught me when it comes to forgiveness and just loving people, you know? It's about hardship and at the end of the day, like, we've all been through stuff. But I truly do believe it is about those things that you've been through, and the stories you get to tell on the other side of that. That's why I feel like I've wanted to be a storyteller”.

The Louisiana native goes on to explain how, because of her standard touring and recording schedule, she wouldn't usually have been able to make time for a project of this kind.

Wilson explains that, thankfully, it all worked out in the end, “Well, to tell you the truth, it was perfect timing. You know, last year we toured a lot, but we didn't tour as much as the year before. So I had like this window where it was just perfect. I was like okay, we can go out there for a couple of weeks and get this done. The stars have to align, you know what I'm saying? They have to. And they did”.

The ‘Heart Like a Truck’ hitmaker, who released her new single, ‘Can't Sit Still’ today in tandem with the arrival of Reminders of Him, jokes about bringing a slice of country to LA, “We are in the heart of Hollywood. That right there just sounds fancy, I'm like...I like the way that sounds! Country done come to town. But I am feeling fancy...Man, it's just like never in a million years could I have dreamed about being a part of something like this, and I'm just a fan of everybody I got to work with on this movie. I mean, Colleen Hoover, when I got this call, I was like, ‘Colleen Hoover’? Are you kidding me? All my girlfriends are gonna be freaking out”.

The ‘Country's Cool Again’ singer-songwriter concludes, “It's just cool to be able to like branch outside of what I normally do, my day job, and meet people who just are creative people who love what they do and take it very serious. I got to learn a lot”.

The blockbuster movie, which was largely filmed in Alberta and Calgary, follows a young mother, Kenna, who returns home after spending five years in prison for a terrible mistake, as she attempts to piece her life back together and return to normality.
