If you find yourself passing some idle time on TikTok, the chances are at least one video will come up featuring Kaitlin Butts’ wonderfully witty song, ‘You Ain't Gotta Die (To Be Dead To Me)’, which arrived last year as part of Butts’ Roadrunner! album.
More recently, BFF's Podcast co-host Brianna LaPaglia has offered her own video using that sound, with the video finding LaPaglia walking down the road as she mouths the tongue-in-cheek words to Kaitlin Butts’ immensely viral track, “You know, I think I have heard of that man / I think, I think I heard he got run over by a train / Mauled by a bear, maybe, hopefully / You ain't gotta die to be dead to me”.
When Brianna LaPaglia dropped the playful clip, numerous fans assumed the video was directed at her ex-boyfriend, Zach Bryan. Following their split in November, LaPaglia accused Bryan of emotional abuse and trying to get her to sign a $12 million NDA.
Kaitlin Butts has now reshared Brianna LaPaglia's clip, in a moving show of support for the Barstool Sports personality in light of what allegedly transpired between her and Zach Bryan, with Butts commenting, “this song was actually *made* for you”.
Butts accompanied the video with the celebratory caption, “MISS CHICKENFRY HAS ENTERED THE CHAT” - a reference to LaPaglia's alter-ego, Brianna Chickenfry. LaPaglia has heartwarmingly responded via TikTok, gushing, “YOU ROCKKKK”.
Although there's no mention of Zach Bryan, one of Bryan's adversaries, John Moreland, has taken to Butts and LaPaglia's comments to seemingly throw some further shade at his fellow Oklahoma native, stating pointedly, “Much love to both of yall”.
John Moreland sent some barbed remarks Zach Bryan's way last month, after it was announced that Bryan had sold his catalogue of recordings to Warner for a staggering $350 million.
John Moreland criticised Zach Bryan and branded him an “off brand version of me”, and when Bryan decided to remove Moreland from their 2024 collaboration ‘Memphis; The Blues‘, the latter offered a more detailed explanation as to why he had grown to dislike the ‘Something in the Orange’ hitmaker. Bryan then dropped a new version of ‘Memphis; The Blues’ with J.R. Carroll earlier in June.
Regardless of whether Kaitlin Butts and Brianna LaPaglia were indeed poking fun at Zach Bryan through these light-hearted new videos, we're just glad to see Butts getting the recognition we feel she's deserved for years now, with ‘You Ain't Gotta Die (To Be Dead To Me)’ not showing any signs of slowing down on TikTok.
