Expect something worthy of the silver screen from Kaitlin Butts this summer.
The 'How Lucky Am I' star recently announced her latest album, Roadrunner!, is set to arrive June 28.
From the looks of the album teaser recently posted to her social media, the release seems poised to be a cinematic one. The footage features the artist atop a horse as various Western-inspired scenes flash across the scene. A sweeping instrumental of 'Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'' from the hit musical, Oklahoma!, plays in the background.
The brief video arrives with the simple caption: "My new life starts today."
Roadrunner!'s official announcement came by way of a Rolling Stone article profiling Butts and her impending new era. From the piece, it seems the album is set to be a 17-song modern reimagining of the musical named for the artist's home state. Rather than a song-by-song redo, the tracks will instead correspond with the play's pivotal moments.
The blockbuster album concept is sure to be a departure from Butts' 2022 released What Else Can She Do, but perhaps that's the point. “I don’t ever want to be the kind of artist where people can nail me down,” the artist told the outlet.
We'll get a first taste of Roadrunner! come Friday, May 17, when Butts shares the album's title track.
