Kacey Musgraves has treated fans to another preview of her keenly awaited 2024 album, with the ‘High Horse’ singer-songwriter sharing a new track, ‘Too Good To Be True’.
The intricate song explores a similarly stripped-back, sparse arrangement that Kacey showcased on the album's lead single and title-track, ‘Deeper Well’. ‘Too Good To Be True’ finds the Texas native immersed in a ‘tidal wave’ of passionate, blissful love.
After celebrating how euphoric and serene their romance makes her feel, Kacey pleads with her partner to ensure he doesn't make her regret falling this hard for him (“Be good to me / And I'll be good to you / But please don't be too good to be true”).
The new release consolidates the folk-leaning and largely acoustic ambience that Deeper Well is expected to carry, with Kacey delving into new sonic territory.
As was the case with ‘Deeper Well’, ‘Too Good To Be True’ is pervaded by a welcome sense of contentment and equanimity, with the project seemingly set to revolve around Kacey Musgraves’ journey towards a more peaceful, happy state of being, following the heartbroken, divorce-inspired material of 2021's star-crossed.
In addition to the title-track and ‘Too Good To Be True’, the upcoming project - which will arrive on March 15 - is set to feature unreleased songs such as ‘Cardinal’, ‘Moving Out’, ‘Dinner with Friends’, ‘Giver / Taker’, ‘Heart of the Woods’ and ‘Jade Green’.
