Following Bad Bunny's celebratory Super Bowl LX Half-Time performance, Kacey Musgraves has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to share her appreciation for the live-wire set.

Musgraves also took the opportunity to throw some shade at Kid Rock, who was headlining an alternative half-time show hosted by Turning Point USA. The Conservative organisation's event also featured Lee Brice, Brantley Gilbert and Gabby Barrett.

The alternative half-time show drew widespread flak and criticism, with many blasting it as an attempt to draw viewers away from Bad Bunny for political reasons. The Puerto Rican star has been vocal in his criticism of the Trump administration's ICE raids, while Kid Rock, on the other hand, is a longstanding friend of Trump.

Taking to X, Musgraves has underlined that she feels Bad Bunny's Super Bowl set, which took place at California's Levi's Stadium, sums up what it means to be American, “Well. That made me feel more proudly American than anything Kid Rock has ever done”.

Bad Bunny's set, which was the first Super Bowl Half-Time show to be performed entirely in Spanish, featured cameos from Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin, Cardi B and more.

The core message of Benito's performance was one of unity and love triumphing over hate, with the histrionic set concluding with Bad Bunny holding up an American football, emblazoned with the rousing message, “Together, We Are America”.

Kid Rock's Turning Point USA performance had faced additional backlash this past week as old lyrics resurfaced about underage girls. The ‘Picture’ crooner raps in ‘Cool, Daddy Jones’, “Young ladies, young ladies, I like ‘em underage / See some say that’s statutory”. It comes after a clip started circulating of Rock's 2001 appearance on Saturday Night Live, during which he reportedly made equally unsettling comments about the Olsen Twins, who were around 14 at the time.

Kid Rock has also drawn ridicule after appearing to mime through certain parts of the TPUSA performance, during which he debuted a new version of Cody Johnson's ‘Till You Can't’.

Although many viewed Bad Bunny's Super Bowl set and Turning Point USA's alternative show as a non-competition, given Benito's status as the most streamed artist on the planet, and the comparatively low figures posted by the TPUSA roster, the early data - which is still being finalised - is already suggesting that Bad Bunny's show was one of the most viewed Half-Time shows of all time.

Over 120 million viewers tuned in for Bad Bunny's set, while The Independent reports the TPUSA broadcast received around 4 million at the time, while The New York Times cites the figure as being 6 million, with final numbers still being tallied.
