At a time when it seems like the world's gone country, MTV marks the latest to have flipped. The longtime pop culture tastemaker is tipping a hat to an array of country stars at its upcoming Video Music Awards.
Jelly Roll, Shaboozey, Tyler Childers, Morgan Wallen and Post Malone have all been nominated in the awards ceremony that honors the year's best contributions to the music video medium. Alongside some of pop music's biggest stars, like Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Doja Cat and more, these country hitmakers have a chance at taking home one of mainstream music's biggest honors.
Jelly Roll is up for Best Collaboration for his work with Jessie Murph on 'Wild Ones', as well as Video for Good thanks to his efforts on Joyner Lucas' 'Best For Me.' Morgan Wallen and Post Malone are also in the running for Best Collab, their insta-success 'I Had Some Help' a shoo-in in the category.
Shaboozey has received a nod for Best New Artist, his viral hit 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)' likely securing him a win over the likes of Teddy Swims and Gracie Abrams. Tyler Childers' striking 'In Your Love' also gets a chance at Video for Good, the song's beautiful visual unmatched in the category.
The winners are selected through fan voting, which is open now. The Video Music Awards ceremony is set to take place on Tuesday, September 10, at Elmont, New York's UBS Arena. It will air at 7 p.m. Central.
