Jelly Roll has made no secret of the fact that he is gunning for his first ever No. 1 album with Beautifully Broken, which makes any other artists that dropped projects last week his rivals.
However, gracious as ever, Jelly Roll has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to offer a shout-out to rapper GloRilla, who released her new record, GLORIOUS, on the same day as Beautifully Broken.
Jelly Roll gushed, “Yoooo @GloTheofficial your album is amazing - please put me on the next one . I know we kept barely missing each other in LA but the next one we gotta lock in”.
The ‘Past Yesterday’ singer-songwriter went on to underline, “So happy for you and your success . You deserve all the good coming your way. Praying for y’all and sending love”.
Heartwarmingly, it seems GloRilla is equally as keen to hit the studio with Jelly Roll for her next project. GloRilla replied to her fellow Tennessee native's post, “Thx so much...hell yea you going on da next one lol we gotta go up fa Tennessee one time !!!!!!”
Before venturing into country music with his chart-topping 2021 single, ‘Son of a Sinner’, Jelly Roll became a highly regarded figure in the rap scene, so a link-up with GloRilla wouldn't be as outlandish as it would be for a more traditional-leaning country artist.
It's not the first time Jelly Roll has expressed his admiration for GloRilla, who is quickly establishing herself as one of the leading artists in today's rap world. During the Red Carpet for the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards in LA, Jelly couldn't contain his delight when he spotted GloRilla, “GloRilla’s here! I’m so excited to meet GloRilla”.
Given how GLORIOUS and Beautifully Broken are arguably two of the biggest releases of the year so far, if they do end up joining forces in the writing room in the near future, the combined star-power of GloRilla and Jelly Roll would surely lead to a smash hit.
That they both hail from Tennessee adds further weight to this, and fans are already getting excited at the prospect of a duet. We're keeping our fingers this dream pairing - which could be donned ‘GloRoll’, perhaps? - comes to fruition sooner rather than later.
