The show must go on! On Friday (July 12), Jelly Roll proved that is a motto to live by after Morgan Wallen called off the second of a two-night stint at Tampa, Florida’s Raymond James Stadium.
Citing an illness, Wallen postponed the second Tampa gig just hours before he was set to take the stage. However, Jelly Roll, who was billed as the night's supporting act, took the show into his own hands.
“TAMPA! Dallas Bull tonight— doors open at 7pm," the artist wrote in a post on social media, calling all ticket holders to an intimate set at a local club shortly after news of the postponement. "If you have a ticket to the show you get in for free. (This is for ticket holders only) FIRST COME FIRST SERVE.”
There, Jelly Roll put on an impromptu showcase, but ahead of the performance, the 'Need A Favor' star took a moment to address the night's deferment.
Speaking to those in attendance while also sticking up for his fellow country hitmaker, he explained, "Morgan Wallen is a dear friend of mine who was so sick I could not believe he did that show last night ... I'm glad he took the day to rest his body. I was heartbroken, but I didn't want to leave without singing some music..."
The Tampa date and subsequent Charlotte, North Carolina performances have been moved to later in the year, with the Raymond James Stadium show slated for Saturday, Oct. 5. The Charlotte shows have been moved to Thursday, Oct. 18, and Friday, Oct. 19.
