Jake Kohn has proudly announced that he will be stepping into the circle at the Grand Ole Opry on September 8th.
A video of then 15-year-old Kohn performing his original song ‘Hard As Stone’ for Radio WV went viral at the beginning of this year. Today, the video sits at 1 million views on Facebook alone.
Jake Kohn looks like your average teenager. His long hair and sheepish grin leave you unsuspecting to the massive talent he possesses, but when his voice fills the room you’re embraced with the notion that you’re witnessing a once in a lifetime greatness.
Born in Winchester, Virginia, Jake is no stranger to country music. At 11, Jake was gifted a guitar from his great-grandmother and he taught himself to play chords from a poster on his wall.
While Jake doesn’t come from a musical background, he grew up listening to country music legends like Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash with his father. With the support of his mother, he began to play live shows locally at 12. The realization of Jake’s success has truly been a family affair.
With a voice like worn leather and the wisdom of someone who has lived a hundred lifetimes, Jake is sure to be the next powerful voice of Appalachia.
