Zach Bryan continues to tease a brand new era of music, with the Oklahoma native sharing photos of the full handwritten lyrics to his unreleased song, ‘I Wrote a Song for You’.
First shared around a month ago, ‘I Wrote a Song for You’ has been doing the rounds on TikTok, with fans eagerly clamouring for the ‘Something in the Orange’ singer-songwriter to make the intimate, lovestruck offering available to stream before too long.
Across a noodling, intricate acoustic guitar, Zach Bryan croons warmly, “It's raining out in Soho, you're telling me don't go / Tucked outside a bar door, what are we alive for / I could call a car or, we could walk down the avenue / I wrote a song for you”.
Given the fact that the ‘I Remember Everything’ chart-topper name-checks Ireland in the song, ticket-holders for Zach Bryan's momentous Dublin triple-header later this month are hoping the country-folk titan might debut the new track during those shows.
Zach Bryan has been sharing a slew of unreleased offerings over the past few months, with the ‘Sweet DeAnn’ crooner confirming he has two projects currently in the works. Just this week, for instance, Bryan shared a clip of him performing the rose-tinted ‘River Washed Hair’, one of the many tracks he's been teasing of late.
Bryan is believed to be honing his With Heaven On Top EP, which is expected to include his November tracks, ‘This World's A Giant’ and ‘High Road’, as well as his Motorbreath album. It's also possible that these two songs are just standalone releases.
With Zach Bryan sharing a Matthew McConaughey-voiced introduction to an accompanying film on the creation of Motorbreath back in January, with McConaughey explaining that the documentary would follow Bryan on an expansive motorcycle ride across North America as he completes his final major label album.
Bryan completed that motorcycle trip last week, which would imply he's also finished the album. However, given that Bryan signed a new deal with Warner Records in early May, it seems Motorbreath is no longer his last major label record, and it is therefore unclear as to whether the rollout schedule has been adjusted as a result.
We suspect Zach Bryan is still planning to drop the Motorbreath album and documentary, especially seeing as McConaughey's part was seemingly already recorded in January. There's still no release date, and it looks like we'll be getting With Heaven On Top first, but as he gears up to kick off his blockbuster summer of shows later in June - including a momentous couple of London dates at BST Hyde Park - we're hoping Bryan is plotting to drop new music in the coming weeks.

“It's raining out in Soho, you're telling me don't go
Tucked outside a bar door, what are we alive for
I could call a car or, we could walk down the avenue
I wrote a song for you
-
About that spot in Ireland, you got on the table when
That man played his sad songs for me and my drunken friends
You danced there and I did too
That night I wrote this song for you
-
You remind me of some old timey photo that i never saw
In the doorway on a long day in your black lace bra
Started writing when I met you, I'll be writing when I die
This song for you
-
Heard you told your daddy
‘Bout some boy in the city
He's Oklahoma trash but
He's real kind with me
Does a boy get tired of
Playing those tunes
But I wrote this one for you
But I wrote this one for you
-
Deep within my lower spine I see you drinking summer wine
At a venue out in Dublin, back when I said nothing
Wish I'd of said then, the things I know now
I wrote a song for you
-
All these people telling me, I ain't what I used to be
But you've known me since I was naive and 23
Like you give a shit what these people say I am or am not
I wrote a song for you
-
I feel like a kid again, when you start asking questions
About my momma, Oklahoma or the way I'm sleeping when
They took the boy you knew, sold him for profit
I had you in my arms last night but I lost it
-
CHORUS
-
Maybe you move on, do something different
Find yourself a sober man, who golfs and is Christian
But in everything I say, everything I do
I wrote this song for you”
