As the anticipation continues to build ahead of Kenny Chesney's groundbreaking Live at Sphere Las Vegas residency next month, the ‘Just to Say We Did’ hitmaker has shared a few tantalising clips from the visuals for the blockbuster shows.
With the Sphere offering an immersive experience, courtesy of its 160,000 square foot wraparound screen, which boasts 71 million pixels and a 16K x 16K resolution, Chesney and his team have spent the past few days in California fine-tuning the content.
All the backdrop videos and graphics from Kenny Chesney's past summer tours have had to be reshot on a special camera, of which there are only eight in the world today.
With Chesney now finalising the content on the West Coast, the ‘Everything's Gonna Be Alright’ crooner has shared a video of him experiencing some of the visuals for the first time.
“We're here in Birbank, California, working on all of the content for Sphere”, Kenny Chesney explains, “It's my first time seeing a lot of it. Next month, we start in Las Vegas, and I can't wait for everybody to see what we've been working on”.
He goes on to pay tribute to just how breathtaking the visual effects and world-building capabilities of the Sphere videos are, “It is blowing my mind. This is gonna be so much fun”.
From the clips we can see in the background, it looks like Kenny Chesney has some fairground-inspired visuals, along with plenty of shots - of course - from Chesney's beloved islands.
Earlier in the week, Chesney shed some light on the process of getting these visuals ready for the shows, “We didn’t know when we signed on what we were signing up for. I realized every bit of video was going to have to be shot for this wraparound-the-audience screen, but I had no idea how much creating these moments – because it’s so much more than content – would open up my own creative portals”.
The ‘Life on a Rock’ singer-songwriter then mused, “We have to go to California to create the final edit, so we can understand the fullness of how people will experience the visuals, how it will marry to the music. But just the songs we saw earlier in the year, putting the show together is going to be a complete rush”.
Chesney touched on the mindset he is bringing to the Sphere preparation, “You can’t know going into something like this what you are going to experience. But you open your arms to all of it, fall into the possibilities and learn a lot about not just the technology, but what else the music is made of. Embrace it all, because it’s awesome”.
Just this weekend, Kenny Chesney revealed that he would be making additional seats available for the keenly awaited run of Sphere shows, which kicks off on Thursday, May 22nd.
“For the fans who want to be close, but maybe aren’t sure they’re ready for the sandbar experience, I get it”, Kenny Chesney reflected, “Normally, it’s three acts, the hot sun and a whole lotta hard plastic flooring, but when you’re being engulfed by this incredible sound and the dynamic visual content, it’s a lot to take in”.
The ‘Take Her Home’ chart-topper went on, “If you’re feeling more like you’re not ready to get in the pit, you want to really absorb all the sensations, I’m really glad the folks at Sphere were able to work with us to make these seats happen”.
Kenny Chesney expanded, “Obviously, we had to wait until everyone knew what our production was going to require; but once we got it all settled, they were very quick to help us create yet another way to come on in and be part of it with us”.
The country legend then underlined how excited he is to have Brandi Cyrus opening up each Sphere show with an electric DJ set, “Since we’re not outside, I want everyone to have the best space possible. We’ve got Brandi Cyrus getting people’s party on to start. The band and I haven’t played for No Shoes Nation since those three nights in Boston – and we’re so ready to get out there and rock. To me, these seats give people one more option to make these shows the best ones ever”.
As more details are revealed about this momentous run of shows, it's safe to say those lucky enough to get their hands on tickets to see Kenny Chesney's Live at Sphere Las Vegas residency are counting down the days until it all launches in a few weeks.
