Is Megan Moroney About to Announce Her Long-Rumoured New Album, ‘Cloud 9’?

Just a day after she confirmed her next musical color theme would be pink, a mysterious new countdown has appeared on Megan Moroney's official website, hinting at a major announcement arriving at 9am CT tomorrow (November 10th).

Beneath the countdown is a password-protected section of the website, with Moroney sharing a hint that it's 15 characters long. We've been trying all sorts of possible codes, from ‘beautifulthings’ to ‘itsalongwaydown’, but thankfully, a fan has now worked out that it's a variation of the latter, featuring a couple of ‘9s’ thrown in.

The code is: ITS9LONGW9YDOWN. Once you enter it, the site transforms into the pink window from Moroney's teaser video yesterday, alongside a new unreleased song clip.

Judging by the password, and the fact that the phrase ‘It's a Long Way Down’ appears on a poster in the 6 Months Later music video, it seems this could be the name of the track.

Alternatively, we suspect this could be a thinly veiled nod to the name of the album as a whole, which we've been speculating is going to be Cloud 9 for the past few weeks.

Moroney has been sprinkling cloud emojis and cloud imagery across her socials in recent months, as well as dropping ‘9’s left, right and centre. Before announcing the color theme yesterday, her website read “Error 999”, and the inclusion of the ‘9s’ in the password for this new countdown adds further weight to this theory.

The lyrics of this newly shared snippet, “It's all sunshine and blue skies / But I can also make it rain”, seemingly align with the Cloud 9 theme, indicating some sense of bliss and jubilance in a relationship, with the potential for those clouds to turn stormy.

We'll have to wait and see what Moroney has up her sleeve tomorrow before we know for sure - but regardless of the title and tracklist, we're just glad to know new music is en route, and we'll be keeping our fingers crossed we get the full project before the end of the year. Given the recurring ‘9’ theme - and the fact that Moroney has been sharing big announcements of late on the ‘9th’ day of the month - could we be in store for a December 9th or January 9th release date...?
