During his second appearance on Theo Von's This Past Weekend podcast, Morgan Wallen has made a slew of eye-catching revelations regarding his new album, I'm the Problem.

When the Sneedville megastar teased some of the songs from the project during his contentious Saturday Night Live appearance last week, fans noticed that a handful of tracks flashing up on the TV screen behind Morgan Wallen had blanked-out features.

We're excited to see who the ‘Last Night’ chart-topper has teamed up with for I'm the Problem, which drops on May 16th, with the likes of Post Malone, HARDY, Eric Church and ERNEST all being rumoured as being part of the star-studded guest-list.

However, one artist we won't be hearing on I'm the Problem is BigXthaPlug, despite the Texas rapper having teased a Morgan Wallen collaboration over the past few months.

While chatting to his buddy Theo Von, Morgan Wallen touched on how he has decided to shift away from the Hip Hop-inspired instrumentals that have been a constant feature on previous records, “On my last album, I had plenty of trap beats and things like that. This time, I was like, ‘Hey man, let's tone that back a little bit’. I'm tired of hearing it, so if I'm tired of hearing it, they're probably tired of hearing it”.

He went on, “So like certain things, you can still get that same swagger...you can accomplish the same things without doing the exact same thing. It's just simple stuff like that”.

Then, Morgan Wallen qualified this by revealing that he still has some trap-infused tracks on I'm the Problem, including one that was supposed to feature his pal, BigXthaPlug.

The duo were photographed last year, with BigXthaPlug continuing to hint that he'll be making a foray into the country music world. BigX's debut country collaboration, the long-teased ’All The Way’ with Bailey Zimmerman, arrives on Friday, April 4th.

Yet it seems BigXthaPlug jumped the gun in those interviews by claiming he had a Morgan Wallen link-up on the way, with Morgan Wallen sharing to Theo Von that their collaboration failed to materialise, due to BigX never completing his verse, “Me and BigX, we almost did a song, but I don't know...I actually sent him a song and he didn't finish it, so I don't know. That's on him, I guess, I don't know what he was doing”.

Although there was no animosity, it certainly seems as though Morgan Wallen harbours some frustration that BigXthaPlug didn't find time to write and record his verse for the track. Given how colossal Wallen's popularity and chart dominance is at the moment, it's definitely surprising that BigX didn't treat this duet as a priority.

When Theo Von light-heartedly joked that maybe it was because BigXthaPlug was arrested in February for marijuana possession, Morgan Wallen amusingly quipped, “I went to jail, too!” referring to his infamous chair-throwing incident in April last year.

Elsewhere during their chat, Morgan Wallen implied that the song BigXthaPlug was slated to appear on was ‘Miami’, an interpolation of Keith Whitley's iconic track, ‘Miami, My Amy’, “It was a kind of spur of the moment thing...I've got a song on my record called ‘Miami’...It's a Keith Whitley flip, you know ‘Miami, My Amy’, that song?”

He explained, “We flipped it...it's a little more like a rap style, but it's cool, man. I like it. It seemed like it could use a rapper on there, I didn't end up using a feature, we ended up just making a second verse, but it's one of those songs where it wouldn't be surprising if we got like a remix and did that...Once it's out, and all that stuff”.

Hopefully this means a Morgan Wallen and BigXthaPlug collaboration is still on the cards, with Wallen keeping the door open for a re-release after I'm the Problem has dropped.

We'll be keeping our fingers crossed this materialises soon. In the meantime, we'll be jamming to BigX's Bailey Zimmerman duet, with the rapper also thought to be working on collaborations with Jelly Roll, Shaboozey, Post Malone and more.
