We've all known for a while that Luke Combs is one of the best dudes in modern country music, with the North Carolina native regularly getting hailed as a genuinely nice guy.
Combs reaffirmed this during a recent interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, when the ‘Beer Never Broke My Heart’ hitmaker explained why he often shows love to up-and-coming artists by leaving comments celebrating what they're doing.
In the clip, Combs reflects on how, if his own idol, Eric Church, had left him a positive comment when he was a struggling songwriter, it would've made all the difference.
We saw this with Kenny Whitmire, with Combs helping to launch his neo-traditional ode, ‘I Gave Her The Moon’, by gushing about the track before it was out. Combs was also one of the first artists to spotlight Thelma & James’ ‘Happy Ever After You’.
Under a headline posted by CountryChord about Combs supporting new talent, Gavin Adcock has responded in the comments section, “The one time I met Luke he complimented what I was doing and it meant the absolute world to me. Hell of a guy”.
Bayker Blankenship has echoed the ‘Perfect Man’ singer-songwriter's sentiments, toasting Combs’ kind-hearted approach, “This is why we love this guy @lukecombs”.
It's true that a co-sign from Combs, who remains one of the most influential artists in today's country landscape, can be make-or-break for an artist trying to cut their teeth. While many major acts choose to stay quiet on social media in this respect, rarely expressing admiration for up-and-comers, Combs is out there hyping them up - and this could end up being the boost they needed to keep on going.
With Combs readying his latest full-length studio album, The Way I Am, for March 20th, hopefully he'll see an array of fellow artists returning the favour and praising the project.
