After the momentous release of ’Rubber Band Man’ alongside fellow folk titan, Hozier, in October, Mumford & Sons have officially unveiled their sixth studio album, Prizefighter.
The record is announced a mere seven months after the arrival of their lauded fifth project, RUSHMERE, with Prizefighter set to be released early next year on February 13th, 2026.
It'll feature a quartet of guests that highlights the versatility Marcus Mumford, Ted Dwane and Ben Lovett strive for. Aside from Hozier on ‘Rubber Band Man’, Mumford & Sons have recruited pop phenom Gracie Abrams for ‘Badlands’, ‘Sailor Song’ prodigy Gigi Perez for ‘Icarus’ and country hitmaker Chris Stapleton for ‘Here’.
Ahead of dropping the news, Marcus underlined how much Prizefighter means to the band, “We feel like we’re hitting our prime as a creative force. We’re putting everything we have into this now, and we’re using everything about our experience so far to embrace exactly who we are. We’re comfortable in our skins these days”.
The ‘Little Lion Man’ singer-songwriter expands, “And Prizefighter is us going for it - serious and playful, sometimes bruised and always hopeful. We’re nowhere near done yet. I hope and believe we’re in the beginning of something we don’t want to let up on”, concluding, “I’m more excited to be in this band than I’ve ever been”.
Co-produced by Mumford & Sons and The National's Aaron Dessner - who also took the helm for the band's revered third project, Wilder Mind - the 14 songs of Prizefighter were created at Dessner's Long Pond Studio in New York in just ten days. Given the raw, yearning ambience of ‘Rubber Band Man’, we can't wait to hear the rest of this eagerly anticipated record from the trailblazing folk trio.
