In an urgent press conference announcing his farcical campaign for mayor of Music City, ERNEST has promised to "Legalize Country Music."
How? By first releasing an album, of course.
His latest effort, dubbed Nashville, Tennessee, is set to arrive April 12, just in time to... make country music great again?
"My fellow Nashvillians," the artist started the video he posted to Instagram on Thursday (March 14), "I'm addressing our community not because I want to, but because I have to. Over the years, there have been many changes to my hometown in Nashville Tennessee. It's important to ask ourselves, 'How'd we get here?'"
ERNEST took the minute-long video to dissect country music's past, present and future, detailing how far the genre has come and where it's headed.
"As our community continues to grow," he continued in the address, "we shall always remember our founding fathers and welcome our new brothers and sisters into our circle. Whether you went to college or jail or you're just looking for a honky tonk fairy tale or barely hanging on, all country music fans are welcome."
Getting to the point of the matter, he shared: "In order to keep growing the genre that made me, we must legalize country music but we need someone with the authority to do so. That's why I'm standing here today proudly announcing that I am running for Mayor of Nashville, Tennessee. As I begin my campaign, my first actions will be releasing my new album on April 12."
With the news of the forthcoming release, the star shared he would be dropping the album's first five songs the night of, including the track 'I Went To College, He Went To Jail', featuring country sensation Jelly Roll.
"My name is Ernest Keith Smith and I approve this message," the artist closed his speech, stepping out from behind the podium to reveal his business attire ended at the waist where a pair of blue boxer briefs began.
