Ella Langley has delved into her friendship with Miranda Lambert during a new interview with the Big D & Bubba Radio Show. The ‘weren't for the wind’ hitmaker has shed some light on the backstage chaos that preceded their 2025 ACM Awards set.
Langley and Lambert's joint performance was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the May ceremony, with the two country powerhouses combining for an electrifying rendition of the latter's iconic hit, ‘Kerosene’, in honour of the song's 20th anniversary.
The duo have become good friends off-stage, too, with Ella Langley a regular supporter of Miranda Lambert's MuttNation charity, which strives to promote the adoption of dogs, as well as educating the public about the benefits of spay and neuter.
In her new conversation with Big D & Bubba, Langley has heartwarmingly revealed that she effectively manifested her meeting with Lambert around two years ago.
When asked if she keeps a vision board, the ‘nicotine’ singer-songwriter explained, “I do them every year, I've been doing them with...my photographer, Caylee [Robillard], and my manager, Megan [Hinde], and there's always one or two extra people in there every year. But we do them around New Year's Eve, it started last year. This last year we had a show on New Year's Eve, so I think we did it the day before or after...Every year I do one, and it's crazy to see the things that are on there”.
The Alabama native outlined that they definitely seem to be working so far, “I had a big picture of Miranda Lambert on there two years ago, and it had a little book next to it about writing, and I got to write with her last year for the first time and it was just really cool...I even showed it to her. I was like, ‘Don't think I'm weird!’”
We can't wait to hear the fruits of this blockbuster writing session, and we're keeping our fingers crossed we're one day treated to a collaboration from Ella Langley and Miranda Lambert. Given how captivating their ACM Awards performance was, we have no doubt an original duet between these icons would be incredible.
Langley went on to share the touching advice Lambert offered her while they were getting ready for their ACM set, “Well, the ACMs were absolutely insane, I had to change into that outfit from my [Red] Carpet outfit in two minutes. Yeah, I had two minutes and that was actually insane. I had people putting on earrings on either side, I was jumping in jeans and putting on a shirt at the same time, putting on boots, putting on lips. I mean, it was just nuts, taking my hair down, everything”.
Langley expanded, “But we got to do a rehearsal earlier that day, and really that whole week...I mean, I talked to her yesterday on the phone, and...she's just been here before. There's not really a rulebook to everything and I think everyone's experience is different, but she can definitely have some advice on, ‘Well, this is what I've been through and this is how I can relate to that, and this is how I felt’”.
Langley concluded, “So, on a day as massive as, you know, performing on the ACMs with somebody you've looked up to for so long...she was very comforting”, before sharing the words of wisdom Lambert offered her, “You belong here, you belong here’, you know? She kept killing the imposter syndrome in my brain”.
Ella Langley joins back up with Riley Green's Damn Country Music Tour this week with a momentous show in Franklin, Tennessee, with the ‘you look like you love me’ crooners then bringing their arsenal of hits to Huntington, West Virginia at the weekend.
