Dogs and Dolly Parton?! We thought there was no better combination until the country icon hit the stage with Lainey Wilson at Wednesday night’s (Feb. 21) Pet Gala.
During the Parton-led event, the proceeds from which benefited the Nashville Humane Association, the star-powered pair teamed up for a rendition of Parton’s classic ‘I Will Always Love You’.
With Wilson taking the lead, the hitmakers – both angelically glimmering in silver and white ensembles – wowed, their distinctive yet powerful vocals blending harmoniously.
“Dogs, dolly, & a little sparkle…three of my favorite things,” Wilson shared of the special moment on X. “Sharing a stage with the queen herself [Dolly Parton] to perform, 'I Will Always Love You', was a dream come true.”
Their two-paws-up performance was just one of the many highlights that took place over the course of the two-hour television special.
The pink carpet event not only included a furry fashion show – shining a spotlight on one of Parton's business ventures, her pet clothing line Doggy Parton – but it hosted even more talent, as well.
Carly Pearce of ‘What He Didn’t Do’ acclaim also joined Parton onstage to tag-team the iconic ‘9 to 5.’ Meanwhile, ‘Buy Me a Boat’ star Chris Janson graced the lineup, too, serenading his four-legged companion Willie with a take on Elvis Presley's ‘Hound Dog’.
At the end of the night, there was a large group rendition of Parton’s shining opus ‘Jolene’, which saw sibling duo and rising stars Tigirlily Gold in the mix.
