"He's Definitely Got Some Special Things Up His Sleeve": DJ Brandi Cyrus Talks Supporting Kenny Chesney at The Sphere in Las Vegas this Summer

While the select artists who have had the privilege of playing The Sphere have gone onstage sans opener, Kenny Chesney will be changing that.

During his upcoming summer residency inside Las Vegas' latest immersive venue, the 'When the Sun Goes Down' hitmaker will be bringing with him Brandi Cyrus.

The country DJ will be acting as his support for the entirety of the star's 15-date run.

"I got the offer early this year and have spent months prepping and freaking out," Cyrus said of the gig, sitting down with Holler fresh off of her set at Morgan Wallen's recent Sand In My Boots festival.

She is no stranger to the Vegas spotlight, having taken up a residency of her own at the city's Wynn resort and casino. The Sphere, however, is an entirely different beast.

While she has spent much of this year in preparation for the performances at the state-of-the-art venue, she explained that fans should expect the unexpected, saying, "I think night one is just gonna be the guinea pig. Everyone's gonna feel it out."

She's confident, though, in Chesney's ability to put on a show.

"Kenny is known for his live shows," she detailed. "He does these huge stadium tours that are so incredible and iconic, and I know he wants to keep that energy for these shows, but it's The Sphere, so you have to make it special ... From what I hear, I don't want to give anything away, but he's definitely got some special things up his sleeve. He's gonna make sure these shows stand out."

Her job, she explained, is to get the crowd ready for such grand performances to unfold. "For me, my main focus is to hype up people for Kenny," she said. "I want to make sure that I spend my time up there getting everybody's energy up, getting everybody in a good mood, get people dancing, drinking and ready for Kenny's incredible show."

At the time of speaking, Cyrus had not yet met Chesney, only having corresponded with him over the phone, but she recognized then the artist's highly publicized character and good nature.

"He's so sweet, and he has just the best reputation," she shared. "The country community is very small, and I do have a lot of friends in it. Every time it comes up with another artist, they just rave about what a great guy he is and how wonderful he is."
