“More Music Soon”: Diplo and Bailey Zimmerman Tease New Collaboration

It looks like Bailey Zimmerman and Diplo are cooking up some new YeeDM heaters for the summer, following their energising remix of ‘Religiously’, which dropped last Spring.

Diplo made a cameo in Zimmerman's recent music video for ’Comin’ in Cold’, with the chart-topping DJ playing the role of a bartender in the cinematic, dream-like visuals.

In a new post reflecting on how he was keen to incorporate his hometown friends into the video, Zimmerman has paid tribute to his friend, Diplo, for getting involved.

The ‘Get to Gettin’ Gone’ hitmaker reflects, “The one thing I wanted to make sure of when I moved to Nashville to chase this wild dream of being a country artist… was to always stay best friends with my hometown boys. They’ve been with me through every up and down… So to have them show up and be a big part of this music video meant the world to me… It was more than just a full-circle moment. It was a reminder of where I come from and who’s been there since day one”.

He expands, “It was also insane to have my buddy @diplo show up to bartend for us… dude makes a mean espresso martini hahaha”, before teasing “MORE MUSIC ON THE WAY”.

Bailey Zimmerman added the ‘looking eyes’ emoji to his ‘espresso martini’ remark, which has left us wondering if this is a thinly veiled reference to the name of a new Diplo collaboration. Diplo has thrown fuel on the fire, commenting, “more music soon”, seemingly confirming that he has a song with Zimmerman on the horizon.

Despite making his name in the EDM space, Diplo is no stranger to the country music world, having dropped a couple of country-inspired Thomas Wesley mixtakes featuring the likes of Sturgill Simpson, Morgan Wade, Jessie Murph, Thomas Rhett and more.

Diplo also, of course, produced ‘Heartless’ with Morgan Wallen in 2020, which remains one of the most popular tracks to emerge from the blossoming YeeDM (country-EDM) wave.

It remains to be seen whether this mysterious Bailey Zimmerman and Diplo joint track is set to appear on Zimmerman's new album, Different Night, Same Rodeo, or the third instalment of the DJ's Thomas Wesley series. Either way, it seems we might have some summer-infused, club-ready country-dance tunes on the way before long.
