During a conversation with Katie Neal for Audacy's Katie & Company, Cody Johnson has revealed he's recorded a momentous collaboration with fellow country titan, Luke Combs.

It comes around a year after CoJo first hinted that he was trying to get Combs on his next album. In a 2025 interview with Neal, when asked about a Combs link-up, Johnson teased, “I’m going in this year to go record a new album and there’s a certain song that I’m pretty certain…we’re kind of playing with it. We’re going back and forth. But I mean, it could be in the works. I can neither confirm nor deny”.

Now, thankfully, Johnson has confirmed it, with the ‘Til You Can't’ singer-songwriter announcing to Neal, “Me and Luke Combs cut one together...We finally got that done…”

Combs and CoJo have been good buddies for a number of years now, with the duo delivering a host of surprise on-stage performances together, such as in Nashville last February. They've previously toured Australia and New Zealand together, with Johnson opening for Combs on a selection of the latter's 2023 World Tour dates.

Excitingly, the Texas native has also recruited country-rock duo, Brothers Osborne, for a song on the project, with Johnson hinting that he will in turn be a guest on their album.

Johnson explains how the duets came about, “Brothers Osborne, that was kind of a last-minute deal. I heard the song, and I was like, ‘This sounds like John and TJ’, and they happened to be reaching out at the same time. [They were like], ‘Hey, when we do our next project, would you do this song with us?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, absolutely...would you do this with me on my project?’ So it was kind of a trade-off”.

Johnson's next album, which serves as the follow-up to his 2024 Leather Deluxe Edition project, is still shrouded in mystery, with the ‘Human’ chart-topper continuing to sprinkle tantalising tidbits and teasers about the project online and via interviews.

Despite not releasing much music over the past few years, Johnson remains one of the most popular artists in modern country, and has kept fans entertained with a steady trickle of collaborations and standalone releases, such as his beloved cover of ‘Travelin’ Soldier’ and his Brandon Lake duet, ‘When a Cowboy Prays’.
