The weekend of Super Bowl LIX is set to kick off with a country-fueled bang.
Some of the genre's biggest names have been tapped to perform at the Madden Bowl, a EA SPORTS-sponsored musical event that will take over New Orleans' Orpheum Theater on Friday, Feb. 7, just ahead of the big game on Sunday, Feb. 9.
Chris Stapleton, Jelly Roll and Shaboozey will all top the bill, ringing in the giant weekend where sports, entertainment and culture collide.
Having recently experienced his first taste of halftime show excitement during the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears showdown on Thanksgiving Day 2024, Shaboozey remarked on the forthcoming football-centric event, sharing, “2024 was an unforgettable year for me with a lot of highs, including performing at a NFL halftime show on Thanksgiving. Now I can't wait to keep the party going with EA SPORTS and football fans from all over at Madden Bowl.”
Tucker Wetmore will also make an appearance during the event alongside Trombone Shorty and the New Breed Brass Band.
In recent years, country music and the Super Bowl have seemed to go hand-in-hand, the annual NFL championship having welcomed a number of the genre's heavyweights under its flood lights.
If they're not performing during the coveted halftime show slot, like Shania Twain in 2003, they've sang the National Anthem, like Chris Stapleton in 2023 and Reba McEntire at last year's event, or performed during pre-show coverage.
