Charles Wesley Godwin has released a video for ‘Family Ties’, the title-track on his upcoming album.
The song, originally teased in May 2022, was one of the four released during the announcement of the record. A beautiful ode to his family and his home of West Virginia, ‘Family Ties’ is a perfect example of Godwin’s signature vibrato and his earnest intensity behind the words he pens.
The video, directed by Justin Clough, opens with Godwin sitting in a room surrounded by photos, news-clippings, and other mementos that are significant to the artist’s heritage. Cut with reel-to-reel footage that shows the significant moments in the lives of the traditional, every-day working class American family, including his own, the video is an homage to this dynamic.
Family Ties, available September 22, will be an immense 19-track album with both new offerings and some we’d fallen in love with previously as demos. Godwin’s third album and first with Big Loud Records is a portrayal of home, relationships, lessons learned and lived.
