Brad Paisley has invited Post Malone to make his Grand Ole Opry debut on August 14th, alongside Lainey Wilson, Vince Gill, The War and Treaty, John Michael Montgomery and more.
Brad will also feature on the stellar bill, with the ‘Whiskey Lullaby’ hitmaker breaking the momentous news via a heartfelt message to his good friend on the Opry Instagram page.
The special show will take place two days before Posty releases his eagerly anticipated new album, F-1Trillion, featuring the likes of Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs, Blake Shelton, Tim McGraw, Dolly Parton, Lainey Wilson and - perhaps unsurprisingly - Brad Paisley.
In the sweet video, Brad Paisley begins by paying tribute to Post Malone's artistic evolution, “Hey Post, Brad here. So what I'm about to ask is going to mean a lot to you, I think, knowing you and knowing the respect that you have for country music and this journey you're embarking on now as a hillbilly singer, which is gonna be massive and remarkable and amazing for both country music and, I think, you”.
Brad then paused before delivering the question every aspiring country artist longs to hear, “Would you like to play the Opry? Come play it with me in August. Total invite, and it's gonna be the first of many appearances - I have a feeling - from you. Come experience what it's like to play the show that started it all, and you and I can jam together, and a lot of your friends will be there. We're gonna have a blast”.
It's a wonderful full-circle moment, given the fact that Brad Paisley is widely associated with Post Malone's first tentative steps into the country music world. In 2021, Posty performed Brad's much-loved hit single, ‘I'm Gonna Miss Her’, as part of Matthew McConaughey's ‘We're Texas’ benefit, with the cover being lauded by fans and critics alike. In classic Brad fashion, he responded by gushing, “Always humbling when another artist does your song better than you. Post Malone, well done”.
Then, when Posty delivered his blockbuster Stagecoach 2024 set in April, he delighted the California crowd by bringing out his buddy Brad to perform ‘I'm Gonna Miss Her’, Vince Gill's ‘One More Last Chance’ and Alan Jackson's ‘Chattahoochee’ together.
With Vince Gill featuring on the August 14th Opry bill, we're hoping Post Malone will perform a duet of ‘One More Last Chance’ alongside Vince himself, who released the song in 1992. Additionally, attendees will be keeping their fingers crossed Post Malone brings out both Brad Paisley and Lainey Wilson to deliver the live debuts of their collaborations, ‘Goes Without Saying’ and ‘Nosedive’, both of which will feature on Posty's debut country album, F-1Trillion, on August 16th.
