In a new conversation with Johnny Dang and Co, BigXthaPlug has shed some light on what inspired him to venture into the country world, as well as again hinting at some of the blockbuster features he has secured for his forthcoming Nashville-inspired EP.

The ‘Take Care’ rapper reflected on how dropping the twang-infused trap anthem, ‘Texas’, helped to establish his reputation among today's top-tier of country stars.

When asked if he views ‘Texas’ as being country or rap, BigXthaPlug explained, “I would say [‘Texas’ is] more country, only because if I was to go [to a major city venue], and they play ‘Texas’, it's not going to get as much of an uproar as it would at a...trail ride [or] a rodeo”, before grinning, “At one of those, it's going to go crazy”.

He went on, “I guess that's what put me on as far as a country artist. And then it's just, I don't know, so many country artists were messing with me, like you got Post Malone, he a [jack] of all trades, but right now, he's country. You got Post Malone, the Jelly Rolls, the Luke Combs, Shaboozeys, that's like one of my close friends”.

The genre-blending maverick expanded, “Just so many people were messing with me and wanted to do songs, so I was like, ‘Well bet, let's just do a tape’. All these big country artists that want to work with me, let's do something with all of them and let's see if we can make something great out of it. And I feel like so far, we have”.

So far, the only full song we've been able to hear is ‘All the Way’ with Bailey Zimmerman, which has blossomed into one of the most popular country smashes of the year so far, after the unreleased snippet went viral back in May. Zimmerman brought out BigX to perform the break-up track together at CMA Fest 2025 earlier in June.

There has also been a tantalising snippet of an apparent collaboration with Shaboozey, which appears to be titled, ‘Highway Highway’, along with a photo from the studio with ERNEST and Post Malone. In this newly unveiled interview, BigX seemingly confirms he's been working on new music with the ‘Congratulations’ hitmaker.

“Me and Post have been in the studio”, BigX reveals, “We done chilled at bars. That ain't even my cup of tea, but that's the type of shit you got to do...with Post...He a good dude”.

During Post Malone's Detroit, Michigan tour-stop, the ‘I Had Some Help’ chart-topper surprised the crowd by bringing out BigXthaPlug for a live-wire performance of ‘Texas’.

BigX emphasised how appreciative he is of the support he's been receiving since making his foray into Music City, “The country artists, [they're] big and small, but the biggest country artists are messing with me right now. So it's just...to be accepted in a lane that you didn't start off in is a blessing”. Just last week, for instance, the Texas native was honoured with the Billboard Innovator of the Year in Nashville.

There's no word on a release date for BigXthaPlug's country EP just yet, but it looks like ‘Highway Highway’ with Shaboozey is being readied as the next single from the project. We're also keeping our fingers crossed that we finally get a collaboration between BigX and Morgan Wallen, with Wallen revealing earlier in the year that the rapper nearly featured on ‘Miami’ from his new album, I'm the Problem.
