Luke Combs seems to be diving back into his quarantine-era demos, with the North Carolina native taking to Instagram to tease his 2020 gem, ‘Sleepless in a Hotel Room’.

First shared back in 2020, ‘Sleepless in a Hotel Room’ was penned while Combs was missing his wife, Nicole, with the North Carolina native uploading a heartfelt acoustic version of the track while he was staying away from his family during COVID.

Across the atmospheric, guitar-driven instrumental, Combs evocatively croons, “I can hear the lonely howling out my window / The morning light can't come too soon / Lying here not next to you / Wide awake I dream of you / Sleepless in a hotel room”.

In the following years, as Combs has shared album after album with no sign of ‘Sleepless in a Hotel Room’ on any tracklist, we'd resigned ourselves to the prospect of never getting to hear the full studio version of this heartbreaking, yearning offering.

Now, five years after he first shared it, the ‘Ain't No Love in Oklahoma’ hitmaker has shared a studio demo of the track, teasing in the caption, “Y’all remember this one? A lot more where it came from”. Surely, after all this time, Combs wouldn't bring up ‘Sleepless in a Hotel Room’ if he wasn't genuinely about to release it, right?

Combs has been revisiting a number of his older work-tapes of late, with the country titan hinting that he might finally be releasing ‘Ever Mine’ - another song shared during quarantine - as well as uploading an array of unreleased tracks to a burner Instagram account, @lcombs77, to test fan reactions before finalising his tracklist.

Tantalisingly, above the newly shared demo version of ‘Sleepless in a Hotel Room’, you'll notice it says “File 13 of 22”. This has us wondering if Combs is gearing up to follow the Morgan Wallen model and drop a lengthy 22-song studio album. We certainly wouldn't complain, as the more music we get from Combs, the better.

As we eagerly look forward to the release of Combs’ latest single, ‘Giving Her Away’, tomorrow (Friday, December 5th), our excitement continues to build ahead of his keenly awaited Fathers & Sons folow-up album, which is set to arrive in early 2026...
