After consolidating her position as one of the most exciting up-and-coming figures in the Contemporary Christian and Country crossover space last year with her stellar REBEL album, Anne Wilson is returning with the first taste of her next musical era.
The ‘My Jesus’ hitmaker will drop her four-song God Story EP on August 1st, featuring her much-loved recent single of the same name, in addition to three brand new tracks.
Excitingly ‘Twenty-Three’ features on the God Story tracklist. Anne Wilson first teased the evocative, vulnerable offering back in February, and fans have been clamouring for a release date ever since. It finds the Kentucky native reflecting on turning 23 - the age at which her brother, Jacob, passed away - with Wilson once again showcasing her ability to convey dark, painful emotionality, while still offering fans hope.
It ensures the momentum remains sky-high behind Wilson, after her lauded REBEL (Revisited) deluxe project in April, featuring blockbuster collaborations with Chris Tomlin (‘The Cross’), Lainey Wilson (‘Praying Woman’) and Jordan Davis (‘Country Gold’).
In tandem with the God Story unveiling, Wilson explains, “I've been pouring my heart into these songs over the last year - writing, dreaming and recording in the studio. I'm so excited to finally start sharing this new chapter of music. God Story is full of the stories God's been writing in my life, and I can't wait for everyone to hear it”.
God Story will also include ‘Til The Road Runs Out’, which Anne Wilson debuted during a recent live show, and ‘Devil Is Too’. All the offerings on this EP have been penned by Wilson alongside long-time collaborators, Matthew West and Jeff Pardo, apart from ‘Devil Is Too’, which also features a writing credit from Emily Weisband.
The timing of this new project couldn't be better, with the ‘Rain in the Rearview’ joining up with one of the biggest tours in North America - Morgan Wallen's I'm the Problem - over the next couple of weekends in Seattle, Washington and Santa Clara, California.
We're hoping Anne Wilson might treat those audiences to some of the tracks from the forthcoming project, with the fast-emerging artist set to bring her uplifting, spiritually-minded message and joyful, galvanising sound to an array of new listeners.
