Everything you need to know about this heartfelt love-song, taken from Ella Langley's 2026 studio album, ‘Dandelion’.
Appearing on Ella Langley's third studio album, Dandelion, ‘Bottom Of Your Boots’ is an almost-love song sandwiched between two tracks that explore her roots and her faith.
Played for the first time live at the ‘you look like you love me’ hitmaker's pop-up show in Nashville in early April 2026, and teased on her episode of Theo Von’s podcast, ‘This Past Weekend’, Langley uses the song to set out her expectations of love.
Written by Langley, Will Bundy and Jon Nite, ‘Bottom Of Your Boots’ complements the flow set out early on in the album: soft and smooth. The guitars and pedal steel teeter into bluesy, ethereal sounds while the drums maintain that toe-tapping beat.
After a verse that is seemingly about to flow into a mirror image of ‘Be Her’, Langley then pulls the rug and launches into a fun yet composed chorus. It feels effortlessly Ella and undoubtedly establishes that her stellar vocals are the focus of this project.
Langley takes her listeners to the bridge of a love song where we see the potential, but are made acutely aware that she’s not here to mess around. The pertinent line, ‘I’m thinking it’s love, I’m thinking it sober’, tells us that Langley is edging into that next phase of a relationship and needs to know where she stands.
In a world of uncertainty, Langley is asking for some reassurance: ‘Tell me how you really feel, give it a label’. She’s headstrong and sure of herself, and is not interested in accepting crumbs.
Langley has shared that the title for this track came from a conversation with her dad where he told her that he loved her from the bottom of his boots to the top of his hat. This is where her bar firmly resides. If anyone is going to have her heart, they need to match the love she has known and the unwaveringly firm standards set by her father, ‘If you're gonna love me better love me to the moon and back/ from the bottom of your boots to the top of your hat’. Ella Langley does not accept half measures. She wants the whole nine yards, or nothing at all.
Ella performed ‘Bottom of your Boots’ for the first time during her pop-up show in Nashville on April 1st, 2026, before sharing a short teaser during her appearance on Theo Von’s ‘This Past Weeked’. The pair were debating which song to tease from the album and Langley suggested ‘Bottom Of Your Boots’ as a more fun song.
The ‘Choosin’ Texas’ chart-topper revealed this track came from her dad when he was giving her a pep talk one night, “He was just giving me one of his, ‘Baby, you know, you're fine’ [talks]. He's like...‘I love you from the bottom of my boots to the top of my hat’.”
“Your boots by the bed
My head on your shoulder
I’m thinking it’s love
And I’m thinking it sober
-
Boy if your heart’s
A revolving door
Yeah that’s alright
But I’m looking for more
If you’re gonna love me
Lay it on table
Tell me how you really feel give it a label
If you’re gonna hold me
Don’t just hold me all night
Better hold me like you wanna hold me for the rest of your life
If you’re gonna love me
Better love me to the moon and back
From the bottom of your boots, to the top of your hat
-
Blame it on you
Not on some bourbon
The things that you saying
Behind closed curtains
Go on and leave me
’Fore it really hurts
If you don’t mean it
With those three words
-
If you’re gonna love me
Lay it on table
Tell me how you really feel give it a label
If you’re gonna hold me
Don’t just hold me all night
Better hold me like you wanna hold me for the rest of your life
If you’re gonna love me
Better love me to the moon and back
From the bottom of your boots, to the top of your hat
-
Oooh
Oh I’m falling falling falling fast for
You oh
darlin’ darlin’ darlin’
-
If you’re gonna love me
Lay it on table
Tell me how you really feel give it a label
If you’re gonna hold me
Don’t just hold me all night
Better hold me like you wanna hold me for the rest of your life
If you’re gonna love me
Better love me to the moon and back
From the bottom of your boots, to the top of your hat
-
The bottom of your boots
To the top of your hat
Yeah babe just like that”
