Rhonda Vincent has been formally inducted into the Grand Ole Opry.
The Grammy Award-winning musician, commonly referred to as the ‘Queen of Bluegrass’, became a member of the Opry on Saturday Night (Feb 6).
Vincent was invited to become a member by Jeannie Seely back in February of last year, but her induction ceremony was delayed due to Covid-19.
Vincent remarked on the long wait by saying, “It’s been 343 days, seven hours, three minutes and five seconds… this is a night I’ll never forget and will cherish for the rest of my life”.
Vincent performed ‘When The Grass Grows Over Me’, ‘Kentucky Borderline’ and was joined by Dierks Bentley for a duet of ‘Mamma Tried’.
Also on the line up was Riders in the Sky, Don Schlitz, Mark Wills and Parker McCollum, who made his Opry debut.
The multi-instrumentalist, along with her band, The Rage, are the most awarded band in Bluegrass history, having won 19 International Bluegrass Music Association awards.
She has released 18 studio albums, the majority of which have appeared in the top ten of the US Bluegrass albums chart.
The Opry celebrated its 95th Birthday at the end of last year. A primetime special celebrating the milestone, Grand Ole Opry: 95 Years of Country Music, will air on NBC on February 14.
