Footage has been released on Morgan Wallen using a racial slur.
The video, recorded this past weekend by a neighbour of Wallen's and released by TMZ, shows the artist interacting with others and calling one of them the n-word.
He states; "take care of this "p**** ass mother******" and then goes on to say "take care of this p**** ass n*****".
Following the release of the video - Wallen sent a statement to TMZ apologising for his actions; "I’m embarrassed and sorry. I used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back.
There are no excuses to use this type of language, ever. I want to sincerely apologize for using the word. I promise to do better".
Big Loud Records and Republic Records, Wallen's labels, have suspended his recording contract indefinitely.
In a statement across their socials, they wrote; "In the wake of recent events, Big Loud Records has made the decision to suspend Morgan Wallen's recording contract indefinitely.
Republic records fully supports Big Loud's decision and agrees such behavior will not be tolerated."
Wallen has been condemned in the industry by artists and professionals alike - the media conglomerate Cumulus Media have removed all of the singer's music from the playlists of their 400 stations.
iHeartMedia, the largest radio station group in the country, has also pulled his music.
"In light of Morgan Wallen’s recent actions involving the use of a racial slur, we have made the decision to remove his music and content from our stations effective immediately," an iHeart spokesperson told Billboard.
CMT have denounced Morgan's actions - removing his performances for the brand from their platforms.
In a statement on Twitter, the company wrote; "After learning of Morgan Wallen’s racial slur late last night, we are in the process of removing his appearances from all our platforms.
We do not tolerate or condone words and actions that are in direct opposition to our core values that celebrate diversity, equity & inclusion".
Artists have also spoken out against his actions, citing the ever prevalent issue of racism within country music.
